Find a handable package in your living space. Scan all sides on a flatbed scanner. Redraw all sides in vector software. All imagery must be drawn with basic vector tools. No fonts allowed. No photographic imagery. No bitmap. No raster. Only vectors. Try to get as close as possible to make the deconstructed packaging look specific, but not explicit. Recognizable, but defamiliarized. Then use motion design software to create a looping animation: the visual design of the package constructing and deconstructing, according to the visual hierarchy.
Through abstract deconstruction of visual design hierarchies and proportions, this graphic design workshop articulates a critical literacy and designerly reappropriation of mass consumer messaging and technical production and packaging considerations.
Design workshop, with precedent studies in Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, Thomas Demand, etc.
